The White Man’s Burden

1. Kipling implies that white men should go out and try to take over other countries and they will be rewarded. Although they would get a title or and be recognized by the people, this could be a bad thing for them. Being given the title is the "burden" because they could become disliked by many other people and countries.

2. Kipling says that they ended war in their land by taking it over, ended famine by feeding them, helped stop sickness, and gave them hope.

3. A higher standing with God and increased power through the ownership of other countries with abundant natural resources.

4. Religion would be used as a justification because it is something that is very important to many of the people and it would show the white man saving the souls of the people and everything that they were doing was for their own good.
